The Honeywell HVAC Service Assistant was the "Tools, Instruments & Software" Winner of the 2003 AHR Expo Innovation Awards. The awards were presented at the McCormick center in Chicago in January 2003. The award was based on the following information presented to the 7 ASHRAE judges:

- APPLICATION:
Advanced portable fault detection and diagnostics instrument for packaged,
heatpump and split A/C systems. Service contractors and HVAC facilities
staff to evaluate pre/post service performance and new installation
equipment commissioning. Tamper-proof direct data exchange.
- INNOVATION:
Immediate time/date stamped record of liquid/suction/ambient
pressure/temperature readings, evap temp, superheat, subcooling (more)
calculated parameters, diagnosis (if fault detected), patented EI efficiency
index and CI capacity index, potential energy savings. Online service for
data access.
- VALUE:
Portable and reasonable cost platform, multiple application usage, improve
staff productivity, remote access to service data, eliminates most paper
records and errors, customized job task listing, provides "potential energy
savings" fact basis for service/replacement decisions.
- MARKET IMPACT:
Will replace the standard gauge set, like auto service computerization.
Service provided based on priority of performance, not seasonal checklists.
Unbiased evaluation of service provider. Equipment replacement decisions
based on performance "facts," not fear factors.
