Technical Bulletin: Service Assistant Audit Procedure



  1. Install sensors correctly
    1. Install gauges to measure SP and LP (preferred)/DP.
    2. Install ST and LT temperature sensors on refrigerant pipes
      1. Reasonably clean surface
      2. Insulation wraps
      3. Wait 5-8 minutes to equilibrate
    3. Install AMB in front of condenser coil


  2. Unit running in steady state (15 minutes)

  3. Use Palm to perform test
    1. Turn on, tab HOME and start ACRx program (with gauge set icon)
    2. Tab SITE/UNIT button
    3. Add or select site. Enter/review info to identify correct site or wanted for reports.
      1. Name
      2. Owner number
      3. Address 1
      4. City
    4. Add or select unit. Enter/review unit info.
      1. Equipment Type
      2. Basic Tab
        1. Refrigerant - easy
        2. SEER - Enter if known, otherwise leave at default 10 unless suspect high efficiency unit then use 12.
        3. Expansion device - Choose TxV or Fixed Orifice.
        4. Select LP or DP port.
      3. Compressor Tab
        1. Select number of stage
      4. Advanced Tab
        1. Enter capacity of all stages
      5. Info Tab
        1. Make
        2. Model
    5. Setup CYCLE test
      1. Select CYCLE tab (default)
      2. Enter stage or circuit to test
      3. Select COOLING test (default)
    6. Perform test
      1. Assess appropriateness of 67F default RWB and measure/hand enter if needed.
      2. Verify correct measurements for tool
      3. Look for "inconsistent data" diagnosis
    7. Save data
      1. Tap TEST button then SAVE DATA.
      2. Enter JOB or work ticket number
      3. Enter comment indicating AUDIT, BEFORE or AFTER as appropriate (see steps 2 and 4 above).
    8. Repeat tests on all appropriate stage and units at site.
      1. Delete mistake tests on screen with CYCLE INSP WP tabs on top (after selecting unit) and redo. Also assess all tests to delete using VIEW DATA tab from main screen.
    9. Backup data
      1. TRGPro - multiple backup sets
        1. Run CFBACKUP or BACKUP from desktop
      2. Newer PDAs - only one backup set
        1. Check data integrity by tapping VIEW DATA from main Service Assistant screen - see all new data saved.
        2. Tab HOME button to exit to desktop accept BACKUP when asked.


  4. Sync data using SAOnline from main Service Assistant screen
    1. Setup palmID, password, time zone if needed (only once)
    2. Internet connection methods
      1. Through PC preferred
      2. Dialup modem is reliable alternative
      3. Other methods available (e.g. WiFi through Tungsten C, cell phones)
    3. Tap CONNECT button until "synchronization successful" at bottom of screen.
    4. Troubleshooting
      1. See Service Assistant manual Appendix B for help
      2. Tab SAOnline on top left, then SYCHRONIZATION, then CLEAR if Fatal alert.


  5. Check data transferred properly
    1. Start Service Assistant
    2. Tap VIEW DATA from main screen.
    3. Observe that new data is now archived (see tabs on top right corner) confirming that data has been sent to server.
