Technical Bulletin: Creating Shortcuts

So, you too are tired of entering common information into your Palm applications over and over. Fortunately for all of us this doesn't have to be so difficult. The developers of Palm OS saw this coming and created a function known as ShortCuts. The ShortCuts enables you to define abbreviations for entering text with Graffiti strokes or Keyboard presses. You can create a ShortCut for any words, letters, or numbers. ShortCuts are great for storing manufacture names, customer info, or any other common, repetitive text that you are required to enter.

Creating Shortcuts
  1. Tap the Applications Icon..

  2. Tap the Preferences icon.

  3. Select the ShortCut option under Personal.

  4. Tap New.

  5. On the ShortCut name line, enter the letters you want to use to activate the ShortCut.

  6. Tap the ShortCut Text area and enter the text that you want to appear when you write the ShortCut characters.

Tip: Consider adding a space after the last character or word in your ShortCut text. This way, a space automatically follows the text when you use the ShortCut.

  7. Tap OK.

Using Shortcuts
